"I have a fantasy about America
It's made out of whole cloth
I guess there's no excuse for it
I have a love
For a big city
That took me in its arms and
Covered me
With blossoms and snowflakes and soot as thick as grease"

I'm so surprised you found this-- and really touched. Now I have to go back and find the whole thing.. it was longer, right? Maybe you have improved upon it with a shorter version!
I first started writing as a poet, long before I wrote editorials or nonfiction or short stories. seeing this makes me feel such nostalgia.
